DSA designed the structural stabilization and renovation of this historic Federalist style farmhouse, which was built in 1824 by Roswell Moore, father of the noted Hartford-based painter and photographer Nelson Augustus Moore (1824-1902). Working with its new owners who are descendants of the Moore family, the goal of this project is to respect the historic qualities of the house while designing an open interior layout using contemporary construction methods, and sustainable environmental control systems. Much of the native chestnut wood from the original house was milled and reused for new cabinetry and wall panels in the house.
